Biography

Daniel is a Registered Physiotherapist with over a decade of experience helping people recover from injury, overcome pain, and return to the activities that are important to them. He works with a wide range of patients, including active adults, recreational athletes, endurance athletes, professionals, and individuals recovering from surgery or managing persistent pain.

Daniel believes that effective physiotherapy begins with understanding the person, not just the injury. Every patient has different goals, responsibilities, fears, and expectations, and successful rehabilitation requires a treatment plan that reflects those differences. Whether someone is trying to return to sport, get back to the gym, keep up with their family, or simply move comfortably again, Daniel takes the time to understand what matters most to them.

Daniel completed his Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health Science at York University before earning his Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen's University. He is a Clinical Instructor with Queen's University's Master of Science in Physical Therapy program and enjoys mentoring both physiotherapy students and practicing clinicians. When teaching others, Daniel emphasizes the importance of clinical reasoning and understanding the "why" behind every decision?not simply following a treatment protocol without understanding its purpose.

A major focus of Daniel's practice is helping patients understand their bodies and regain confidence in movement. He believes pain is an important symptom that provides information, but it does not always tell the complete story. Understanding the type of pain, the context in which it occurs, and the individual's goals is essential in determining the right approach. Some discomfort can be a normal part of rebuilding strength and capacity, while other symptoms may indicate that activity needs to be modified. Daniel works with patients to understand these differences and make informed decisions about their recovery.

Daniel believes exercise is the foundation of long-term rehabilitation and lifelong health. However, effective exercise therapy is not about prescribing the most complicated program?it is about finding the right exercises for the individual's goals, lifestyle, and stage of recovery. He uses exercise to help patients reduce pain, build resilience, adapt to their physical demands, and develop the confidence and independence to manage their health long-term.

His treatment approach combines exercise prescription, movement assessment, patient education, and manual therapy. Daniel views hands-on treatment as a valuable tool to help reduce symptoms, improve confidence with movement, and provide information about how the body responds to different demands. He uses this information to help guide exercise selection and create individualized treatment plans.

Daniel has experience treating a wide variety of conditions, including neck and back pain, shoulder injuries, rotator cuff disorders, hip and knee injuries, tendon injuries, running injuries, cycling injuries, sports injuries, workplace injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, chronic pain, dizziness and vestibular disorders, concussion rehabilitation, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. He particularly enjoys working with patients who have persistent or complex injuries and helping identify factors that may be preventing recovery.

Daniel has completed extensive postgraduate training, including Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (Level 5), Full Body Certified Active Release Techniques? (ART) Provider and Ironman Provider, Integrated Dry Needling, Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI), Complete Concussion Management, vestibular rehabilitation, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), K-Taping, APTEI, and additional advanced continuing education.

Throughout his career, Daniel has worked with everyone from weekend warriors to high-level athletes and has provided medical coverage at major sporting events, including the North American Ironman Championships.

Outside the clinic, Daniel enjoys strength training, cycling, and spending time with his family. His own passion for an active lifestyle helps him understand the challenges his patients face and reinforces his commitment to helping people remain active, independent, and capable throughout life.
