Alana completed her Masters in Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 2016. During her time at McMaster she received the Hamilton District Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA) Award for demonstrating leadership qualities and contributing to the involvement of others in the OPA and Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) while maintaining good academic standing. Prior to this, she attended Queens University and graduated in 2013 with distinction from the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Honours) program. During her time at Queens she played for the Womens Hockey Team, which won a bronze medal at the CIS National Championships and two Ontario University Athletics gold medals.
Since graduating she continues to advance her physiotherapy skills by pursing certifications in manual therapy, athletic taping, and more. Alana is has a special interest in pelvic health physiotherapy and has completed several specialized courses in this area. Alana has experience treating both men and women for a variety of conditions affecting the pelvic floor, including: incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, pelvic girdle pain, and much more.
Alanas approach to assessment and treatment emphasizes her passion for living a healthy, active lifestyle. She strives to promote health and well-being and encourage others to take an active role in their health through health promotion and patient-centered care. Her goals as a therapist are to educate, empower and provide her patients with the necessary skills to self-manage their conditions and return to the activities they enjoy.
