Dr. Riam Shammaa is an expert in musculoskeletal and regenerative medicine and lectures at the University of Toronto on Musculoskeletal diseases. He is an expert in pain medicine and serves as the Medical Director of Regenerative and Transitional Medicine at the Canadian Center for Regenerative Therapy. He is also the lead scientist at the National Institute for Stemcell Research.
Dr. Shammaa is a pioneer in autologous and allogenic stem cell treatments. He has lent his expertise to the National Ballet of Canada, Toronto Marlies, Toronto FC, Mississauga Steelheads, Ryerson Rams, and Ontario Womens Hockey Association. He was also appointed as lead physician at the 2015 Pan Am games and currently serves as the lead physician for Boxing Ontario.
Dr. Shammaa work in research at McGill University and in the private sector before completing his residency in family medicine at McGill University. He went on to complete a fellowship in Sports medicine at the University of Toronto. He is a national expert on regenerative medicine and had given several lectures across Canada on stem cells, Translational medicine and regenerative medicine.
Dr. Riam Shammaa is the only physician in Canada that repairs herniated discs without surgery, using stemcells and regenerative medicine technology. His Procedure not only alleviates the pressure on nerves, but also restores the integrity of the disc, and can give the disc up to 3mm of height.
