Melissa graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 2006. Her interests include sport specific massage which has allowed her to work with professional athletes and performing artists. Her training and background with injured and training athletes has allowed her to develop a unique skillset to also effectively treat the general population.
Melissa's treatments include a personal assessment designed to achieve physical and mental balance. She strongly believes that knowledge is prevention and with her education and training of anatomy, physiology and physical assessment she is confident in customizing each treatment for her clients individual needs, both acute and chronic physical imbalances such as muscle, ligamentous, tendinous and facial injuries.
Melissa is aware of the limits we push our bodies through and how they affect our health. She designs individual treatment plans to help clients achieve their health and fitness goals and reduce the chance of injuries. Melissa is a firm believer in active and healthy living.
Melissa practiced yoga, including Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga, as a hobby back in Toronto for over nine years. After 10 years of being a full-time massage therapist she wanted more than a hobby, and needed a life change to be physically able to provide service for the years ahead. Thus she officially began her journey to become a yoga teacher completing her 250 hour Yoga Teacher Training at The Yoga Sanctuary.
Melissa has a deeply-rooted belief in the power of yoga, and believes that although strict technique has its place in a class, she believes that greater emphasis should be placed on overall health, happiness, and inner peace.
