Olivia is a Registered Physiotherapist who received a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. Prior to this, she graduated from the Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelors of Kinesiology (honours).
Originally from Clarenville, Newfoundland, Olivia's passion for Physiotherapy begun at the age of nine, when her Grandfather suffered a Stroke. Witnessing the holistic care that he received during his rehabilitation was ultimately life-changing! During her Undergraduate studies, Olivia worked as a Research Assistant, where she won the Heart and Stroke Foundation Centre of Stroke Recovery Catalyst Stimulus Research Grant. She has co-authored on multiple peer-reviewed research publications, abstracts and conference proceedings in the field of Multiple Sclerosis and Neurorehabilitation.
Olivia has been highly involved in track and field and volleyball, as a participant and coach. Her passion for helping people reach their goals to achieve optimal success led her to receive her Personal Training (CSEP - CPT) and Level One Volleyball Canada Coach certifications. She also has had extensive experience in providing side-line therapeutic services through working with the Men's Volleyball Team at Memorial University.
Upon experiencing first-hand, the physical and emotional changes that can occur during pregnancy and child birth, Olivia's professional focus shifted toward pelvic health physiotherapy, with a special interest in women's health. Olivia is a Certified Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, specializing in conditions related to pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, diastasis, vaginismus/dyspareunia, urinary frequency/urgency, pre and postpartum and persistent pelvic pain. Additionally, she received her Mindfulness Meditation Certification through a completion of a post-graduate course at the University of Toronto. She has experience treating all genders and continues to take specialized courses in Pelvic Health.
Olivia is passionate about providing client's the highest quality of care in aims to help improve their overall physical and emotional well-being. Her treatment philosophy emphasizes on an individualized, and evidence-based approach with a focus on education, to help empower and motivate her client's to become actively involved in their rehabilitation.
Outside of work, Olivia enjoys hiking, yoga, travelling and running after her son!
