Biography

Shamit obtained his Master of Physical Therapy from Western University. His most memorable clinical experience was at Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Centre, where he developed a strong interest in working with athletes and treating knee pathologies, particularly ACL rehabilitation. During his time at Western, Shamit also worked as a physiotherapy extern at University Hospital, which primarily involved assisting patients with their mobility, strength, and ambulation after their knee or hip replacements.

Prior to physiotherapy school, Shamit earned a double major in Human Biology and Psychology at the University of Toronto. During this time, a multitude of experiences have helped shape him as a clinician, most notably working as a personal trainer. Shamit has a passion for exercise and is a strong advocate for an active and healthy lifestyle. His treatment approach involves a combination of a structured exercise program, manual therapy, and most importantly, patient education. Shamit believes fostering a supportive and meaningful relationship with his patients in their rehabilitation journey will help create more favourable outcomes. His goal is to collaborate with his patients and empower them to reach their goals so they can do the things they love.

In his spare time, Shamit enjoys playing and watching basketball, travelling, weightlifting, and trying new restaurants.
