Biography

Thomas is a Registered Massage Therapist and a Certified Athletic Therapist. He completed his massage therapy education at the Ontario College of Health and Technology after having graduated from York University with a bachelor of science in kinesiology.

During his time at York, Thomas worked with various elite athletes ranging from varsity athletes to Olympians. His experiences include working with dancers at the National Ballet of Canada, as well as with the National Wheelchair Rugby team. He has also spent some time in the private clinical setting rehabilitating patients with hip replacements, knee replacements, achilles tendon repairs, ACL reconstructions and more.

Thomas strongly believes in the importance of combining therapeutic exercises along with manual therapy in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. His techniques of choice include soft tissue release, myofascial stretching, belt assisted traction, and all types of taping. Thomas is a dual credentialed practitioner. As a certified athletic therapist and registered massage therapist, he offers two approaches to treatment which are detailed below.

Massage Therapy:

More general, can focus on multiple areas of the body. This treatment is usually for people who experience mild discomforts that are associated with muscular tension and joint restrictions.

Active Massage Therapy:

This style of treatment is best suited for someone who is looking to treat a condition or injury. It focuses on rehabilitating injuries and post operative conditions. The main difference between this style of treatment and a regular massage, is that active massage is done with the patient clothed, as opposed to using draping. It will also involve progressive exercises that are tailored to the client's specific needs and stage of healing.

Having lived in five countries and traveled a lot throughout his life, he also enjoys interacting with patients and sharing life experiences.
