Biography
Bill has more than 30 years of finance and accounting experience gained while working in public accounting, venture capital, healthcare and the service sector.
After qualifying as a chartered accountant with what is now Deloitte Canada, Bill joined a Toronto-area CPA firm to work exclusively with owner-managed enterprises, in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution and the service sector.
After becoming a partner with the CPA firm, Bill pursued an opportunity to run a $20 million multi-divisional retail operation in the Caribbean. Returning to Canada, Bill worked in venture capital for 15 years, working with Royal Trust, Working Ventures and Greybrook Partners, a company that he co-founded. While working in venture capital, Bill invested in numerous technology companies including Certicom Corp. and assisted in the formation of a web-based logistics company.
Prior to joining The CFO Centre, Bill spent nine years working in the healthcare field, initially as CFO of Med-Emerg International, a publicly traded healthcare services company and subsequently as the SVP ? Operations and Finance of AIM Health Group, a $70 million healthcare services company.
While with The CFO Centre, Bill has worked with a range of entrepreneurial companies, a sample of which includes:
1. Five privately-owned medical services companies:
a. A leading fertility clinic;
b. A network of physio-rehab and laser body aesthetics clinics;
c. A network of sports medicine clinics;
d. A leading laser-eye clinic; and
e. A national network of dental radiology clinics.
2. Four law firms:
a. A real estate law firm;
b. A legal defense law firm;
c. A personal injury law firm; and
d. A broad-based business law firm.
3. An EMR SaaS company;
4. a bio-medical robotics company.
Initiatives have included cash management / financial forecasting; fund raising, M&A initiatives, operational realignment, tax planning and staff mentorship.
Bill has participated at the Board level with for profit and not-for-profit organizations.
